Who Is Kay Hart?

It’s a sad truth that the names of many talented and remarkable people hover just under our cultural radar, keeping us unaware of their existence. “Kay Hart” is one of those names. Her masterful floral paintings have found a place in the art museum of the London Public Library, but that is not what makes her remarkable.

Kay Hart was born without hands or feet, and completed all of her paintings using a brush fastened between both of her arms.

We have a choice. We can look at life through the lens of the things we don’t have and spend the majority of our time discontent and feeling sorry for ourselves, or, like Kay Hart, we can decide to look at what we do have and figure out the best way to go about using it. As the old saying goes, “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” We all have the capacity to do it. The question is: will we?
